CCTV use at St. James Court


- Our Rules & Polcies -



CCTV is now deployed at St.James Court for the purposes of protecting our property and deterring would-be trespassers.  Below we have set out the rules and policies which will apply to our use of this technology to ensure we protect peoples' rights to privacy and the protection of their data rights.



1. CCTV is introduced with the specific purpose of enhancing security at St.James Court where measures such  as a full-time concierge service are not available. Its purpose is to act as a deterrent to would-be intruders and for the collecting of evidence in response to recurring acts of theft and criminal damage.

 

2. Its utilisation is in accordance with individual rights to privacy and the relevant terms of the data  protection laws regarding CCTV deployment and will be subject to regular review.

 

3. Visible signage will indicate where cameras are in use and provide contact details for SJCRA as the operator and where SARs (subject access request) may be directed.

 

4. Responsibility for the system is with the Management Committee and two dedicated directors committed to ensuring its use according to the recommended principles.

 

5. Images are stored on an independent secured hard drive with a limited recording time of 3o days after which the system records over itself and all preceding images are deleted.

 

6. Access to the stored data is restricted to the designated directors who will acts as keyholders sharing data only in the event of an active police investigation and

preventing any unauthorised access or use.

 

7. The use of CCTV cameras will be subject to regular review by the SJCRA Management Committee to ensure that its operation remains necessary and legally compliant.

 

8. Access to recorded images will not be permitted in the event of any dispute arising between individual residents  and privacy rights will be respected at all times.

.

 9. A copy of these rules and policies will be placed on display in the common areas.

 

10. SJCRA undertakes to operate its CCTV system according to the British Standards minimum requirements  for Video Surveillance Systems (BS EN 62676-1-1)

and Video Surveillance Equipment (BS EN 62676-4).

12. CCTV use at St. James Court is subject to the requirements of the GDPR (General Data Protection Rule) regarding lawfulness, fairness and transparency; purpose limitation; data minimisation; accuracy;  storage limitation; integrity and confidentiality (security).
